Introducing… Writing Support Videos!

Over the coming weeks, we will upload new writing support videos onto your class blogs. These will be uploaded on a Monday, and we encourage you to send in your writing to your class email whilst we are doing our Home Learning. Each class will then have a ‘Writer of the Week’ who will receive a certificate and a prize for their efforts. We hope you enjoy these videos, and would love some feedback on them.

Happy writing everyone!

VE Day Competition Winners

Well done to everyone who entered their VE Day bunting into our competition. We loved seeing all the entries; they were full of colour and detail!

The winners were……. Olivia (Y1) (KS1) and Niamh (Y6) (KS2).

Take a look at all the entries below. Thanks again for entering everyone!

Welcome to our school blog!

Our  blog will be updated regularly with information about school events, examples of children’s learning and also additional work and support for children at home.
Our class blogs provide our children with a real audience and purpose for writing, as well as sharing photos of the learning we undertake.
Please feel free to comment and give us feedback on any of our posts.
Your comments will be monitored before going live and then will be shared with the children.

Weekly Vocabulary

Each week we will learn four different words in depth in order to develop and expand our vocabulary. Sometimes we play games, complete activities or even draw the definition to help us understand them. We have decided to postthe list each week on the blog and share so that you can talk to your child about them too!

By the end of the week your child should be able to tell you the definition (meaning), synonyms (words with a similar meaning), antonyms (words with the opposite meaning), words in the family (prefix / suffix) and also be able to use it in the correct context (within a sentence).

It would be great if you could talk about the words at home too as it will help your child to remember them- consolidating their learning.

Our special visitor

This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year.  Mrs Feng came to tell the story about why it is celebrated.  She shared with the children how she celebrated with her family and friends.  We loved looking at the beautiful pop up book, the window decorations and the beautiful red lanterns.  The children were thrilled to take home their own special red envelope and fortune cookie.  Happy Chinese New Year!

Afterwards, the children loved roleplaying in our Chinese restaurant pretending to celebrate with their friends.
