Today we performed the poetry that we were planning this week. We used cymbals and other percussion instruments to perform these.
Here are some of the photos of us performing these in the sun:
The place to be for whole school news!
Each week we will learn four different words in depth in order to develop and expand our vocabulary. Sometimes we play games, complete activities or even draw the definition to help us understand them. We have decided to postthe list each week on the blog and share so that you can talk to your child about them too!
By the end of the week your child should be able to tell you the definition (meaning), synonyms (words with a similar meaning), antonyms (words with the opposite meaning), words in the family (prefix / suffix) and also be able to use it in the correct context (within a sentence).
It would be great if you could talk about the words at home too as it will help your child to remember them- consolidating their learning.
This week we have been learning about Chinese New Year. Mrs Feng came to tell the story about why it is celebrated. She shared with the children how she celebrated with her family and friends. We loved looking at the beautiful pop up book, the window decorations and the beautiful red lanterns. The children were thrilled to take home their own special red envelope and fortune cookie. Happy Chinese New Year!
Afterwards, the children loved roleplaying in our Chinese restaurant pretending to celebrate with their friends.
The children have completed some outstanding pieces of homework which are now being proudly showcased on our topic wall. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support; the children have clearly enjoyed completing their projects and have already learnt a lot about the Great Fire of London. The children presented what they had learnt is so many different ways, including some impressive artwork, detailed research, interesting timelines and even a song which was performed by Ibrahim. Please have a look at our super homework below.
Today EYFS received a special letter from Santa. The cheeky elves had hidden all of Santa’s Christmas Day sprouts in EYFS and he needed the children to help him find them all. We had 100 sprouts to find, we searched high and low and inside and out. Finally we found every last one! Amazing team work 😀😀
