Stars of the future!

It’s been an exciting week for football at Devonshire Road! Year 3 and 4 set the bar high on Tuesday by becoming the champions of their group by winning 4-0, 4-0 and 3-1. Then on Thursday our year 5 and 6 matched their achievements by getting through to the quarter finals. We were unfortunately knocked out on penalties but performed amazingly and made our school extremely proud. Well done to our fantastic footballers for representing our school so well.

Football

We would like to congratulate our football team for reaching the final stage of the Premier League Tournament held at Manchester City’s Academy. We faced some very tough competition on Thursday and although we did not get through to the final we are very proud of being one of the top 20 schools out of the 120 that entered. The team showed great effort and had a lot of fun!

Football Victory

Just when you think our week at school couldn’t get any more exciting, along come our school football team! This week we went to Manchester City’s Academy to take part in a special tournament. The team were exceptional on the day: their attitude and performance proved they are a credit to our school.

We played 6 matches, winning 5, and got the joint highest overall score out of  64 other school teams. We are very excited to announce we have got through to the final stages with the chance of winning a very special prize. Come back in a few weeks to see how we got on.

WELL DONE TEAM!!

Debating Club – The Competition

Today, our Year 6 children worked incredibly hard in their first ever competitive debate against a school from Blackburn, organised by Mr Simpson.

Even though they did not win the debate, they did the school proud, and ultimately, the practise will help them in the future.

Well done!
