Both Y4 classes today have been doing a workout leat by Miss Ingram. They are all very sweaty and at times exhausted!
4D have really enjoyed their swimming lessons this term. They have learned so many new skills and conquered fears about being in deeper water. I am especially proud of the children who have shown so much resilience and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones.
Just keep swimming, everyone!
4D have been developing their resilience and perseverance with their D&T this week. They have designed, annotated and built their own torches using materials from around the classroom. Using their Science knowledge of electricity, they made circuits and tested their skills by working in pairs and independently.
Well done, scientists!
As part of our collaborative Art project with Thomasson Memorial, the children were treated to a performance by the Forest Tribe Theatre. It was a wonderfully inclusive performance with some intriguing interpretive dance and a heart-warming storyline.
We have been exploring fractions this week, and have begun to learn more about the possibilities of finding equivalent fractions, too. Here are 4D to show off their learning.
On Thursday morning, we developed our fitness with circuit training. We loved it so much that we did a bit more this morning, showing how much we have remembered! The children showed great enthusiasm with pulse-raising exercises such as burpees and star jumps, worked on their core muscles with planks and seal raises, then tried bodyweight resistance training with press ups, tricep dips and squats. Well done 4D, keep it up!
I am so very proud of the children’s fantastic performance last Wednesday in our stage adaptation of Peter H Reynolds’ lovely story, The Dot, an inspiring tale about resilience and determination. They have worked so hard to learn their lines, develop their acting skills and sing so beautifully. Well done, 4D!
Thank you so much to all our lovely parents and carers who came to support the children.
On Thursday 17th January 2019, Year 4 visited the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. The children enjoyed sketching some beautiful textiles in the morning, and had a fun afternoon learning expressive dances.
4D have sewn their own stockings this week using felt and thread, learning and using various types of stitching, for example running stitch and blanket stitch.
The children had to show great resilience and perseverance when making their stockings, working through difficult challenges and solving problems independently.
